Haikus

Joined a Haiku group. Have no idea how long I will keep up with it but I've never wrote a haiku before. Now I've written like 3 or 4 and I'm so pleased with them lol

The funnest part is it's a game called haiku chase and there is 33 pages of them. They make really interesting reading aloud. The chase works so that the last sentence is the first line of the next haiku.

Heres an example!

Now it needs cleaning,

So fresh, so clean, and sparkly
Ripe for new spirit

Tortured souls feast on corpses

Just a funny

Just a funny I identify with and maybe you do too!

My Husband is a big, furry dude. He's not fat, and not tall, just broad-chested, muscular, and built like a sexy beast-bear.

But most importantly, He is always...ALWAYS...(and this is important, ladies, amiright?) WARM AS BALLS.

I am not a big, furry, burly dude. I am, in fact, a hairless, bony-clawed squirrel person and I am always...ALWAYS...cold as a witch's tit.

It's a match made in heaven. You know, for me. For Him, not so much.

Tonight, for example. We were lying in bed, watching old episodes of Upright Citizens Brigade, and I nuzzled close to Him. I kissed along His neck, up behind His ear. I took His earlobe between my teeth and just barely bit down. He moaned a little, just in the back of His throat. I knew I had Him. I
knew He was hard. And I knew I had my moment.

I slowly, then all at once, reached under his shirt... and placed my icy, freezing, bird-claw hands of death on His broad, muscled, furry, WARM chest.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST GODDAMMIT WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOUR HANDS ???

This is screamed as He leaps away from me. Ha! Joke's on Him. I'm scrawny and freezing, but I work out, and my icy death mitts possess inhuman strength. I hold on tight, His ear still in my mouth. I purr, as sexily as I can, "oh man, you are so big and strong and warm and I love you soooo much,,,"

He cuts me off.

"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?? WHAT THE FUCK??"

I add some boob pressure to sweeten the deal.

"GET YOUR ICY CLAWS OFF OF ME, DEVIL WOMAN!"

I throw in some frantic neck nibbling, and I hold on tight with my frozen squirrel paws.

"THAT'S NOT NORMAL! YOU NEED TO GET THAT CHECKED OUT BY A DOCTOR OR MAYBE A WIZARD!"

He escaped.

Damn.

It's going to be a long winter.

Some of my freelance writing

Just in case you wanted to read any of it. It's always about selling things, but some of them I really enjoy, especially and weirdly, the ones about scents. Scents I can't and haven't smelled! Makes it really interesting. :D

Luxury Candles
I write *almost* all of them, I think the lady I ghostwrite for does some. Hers are all about baths or makeup or parties. Mine have exclusively been about the candles, diffusers, and occasionally body products.

I had one I really enjoyed about destination weddings too, but my articles are really hard to find mixed in with everything. They don't have a set section for them, just a few random ones appear at the bottom of pages. These are probably a little bit more boring, and a bit earlier in my "career".
Destination weddings for Australians

And I wrote all of these except the first 3 I think:
Southern Australia coast vacation cottages
The best part of this was imagining visiting the place, and looking at all the cool pictures in image search.

There's a bunch more scattered at different sites all over the place, but not really any I thought were good enough for you to read. :p

Oil paintings

Hi Sis! As requested, here are the pictures of my paintings, in order of when I did them. The first one you'll notice is very similar to Willow's, that's of course the one we did together. :) The last one is still a WIP, needs some rock/bush/bird work.

Just like Willow's

Why the green sky?? I dunno why, but....green sky.

It's supposed to be Tahquamenon Falls, the "root beer" falls, but they
ended up more like "chocolate milk" falls!

I actually have an extra green canvas that I painted at the beginning of the second one, but the paint was too thin to continue. So I let it dry, and now have to figure out exactly what I'm going to do with another green sky...

The paints are terribly expensive, about $10 a tube, so I don't know why I thought that would be a good hobby for me! I guess I just thought you get more painting out of each tube than you actually do. Luckily some of the actually are very intense and do go a long way, like the red and blue. But brown, yellow, green, red, and both whites? Fahgetaboutit. That and I go through lots and lots of paint thinner. A $10 can only lasted me the 4 pictures we've done.

Mountains are next to try!

Dinner with friend

Steve made delicious pepper jack cheese sauce and veges. I made the potatoes and pork-chops. Dinner for us and my friend Amanda. The meal was 550 ca.

Cold one day and 70 the next.

I get called Nanuk of the north and those are Will's sunglasses.

Post notifications.

By default this blog should notify us of comments.

I've changed settings to make sure it does it too.

Part of the problem is it's probably notifying your gmail so unless that's the one you use all the time I should change your notify email. I changed mine to yahoo.

The other problem is that even if you are using gmail in my case it put blog posts in the social tab. Not inbox couldn't see them at all. Good news! Easy fix! you just drag the blog posts to the main tab and they should show up there always!

Vegan Potato Leek Soup

Hi sis! Here is the soup recipe. I personally try to keep it vegan when I cook it just because it also keeps it very low calorie. Most potato leek soup recipes add milk or cream for creaminess, but I've found the trick to make it creamy without all that stuff!

*5 russet potatoes, mostly peeled, cubed (I leave some peel on for the vitamins, but it makes the soup more of  light yellow color rather than bright white.)

* 2 large leeks, dark green parts removed, outer layers washed really well. Cut into thin rings.

*4 cloves garlic (I usually cut them in half to get more garlic flavor while cooking)

*1 Tbsp oil, like olive oil or coconut, but I only had canola.

*2 tsp each salt, pepper, ground thyme

*1 tsp celery seed, or a stalk or two of real celery if you have it.

* 2-3 vegetarian or chicken broth

*1 C soy or almond milk, optional

* chopped green onions and more pepper for garnish

Get a large soup pot, put in the oil over medium heat. Put in the leeks and garlic and saute them. Just let them sweat a little bit, don't let them brown or the leeks get kind of bitter. When they are becoming more transparent, fill the pot half way with hot water, or part water and part broth, and add cubed potatoes.
Add the salt, pepper, thyme and celery seed or celery. Adding a tiny bit of nutmeg is my secret ingredient! Bring to a boil and cook until potatoes are soft. Get your blender or food processor and scoop in a couple of cups at a time (careful, it's hot!). Blend for a few seconds, and the put it back in the pot. Keep blending the rest of the soup in batches until it's nice and smooth, or partly chunky if you like it that way. Add more broth if it gets too thick from blending. Now taste! Add more salt, pepper, etc. I actually had to add quite a bit more salt to my pot, but I didn't want to start you off with too much. You can actually add a little soy or nut milk at this point if you wish. When it tastes good, pour into bowls, garnish and serve!

It's super easy and relatively quick. I can neglect it in the pot while I do other things. Blending only takes a couple of minutes. I made ours very thick, and we ate it with buttered italian bread, but next time I think I would make it a little thinner. I would be surprised if this even reached 250 calories for one huge bowl. Bread of course ups the calories but it was a special occasion. :p

Today's triumph

I'm one pound down from last week. My calorie goal is actually at 2 lbs per week, but it is very hard for me to meet it (read; I haven't met it yet) so as long as I am losing and improving my health, I am happy for now. Looking forward to seeing a new number in the mix in 3 or 4 lbs.

However, the company came with pastries yesterday, so I fully expect to go back up a half a pound or so! However, I'm going to have one slice of coffee cake, with some coffee of course, and then throw that and the donuts in the trash.

I have to fight feeling wasteful, but it's worth being healthy right?

Weekend Update

We had company yesterday. Gary's parents came over to cut Gary's hair before he leaves.
He is going to Vegas for 4 days for a conference for work, probably a lot like Steve did for his job. They brought the girls a cute outfit each, and I made a really good (vegan) potato leek soup.

Outfits from Papaw & Gigi

When Gary went to leave for the store, he found out our car had been broken into. :( No radio etc. When he was talking to the police, the neighbor came out and said that a few houses a way, a home had been broken into. It really is a bummer, because this house and this area really felt like a haven to me. I like it hear, but this dramatically increase the chances that we will be moving sometime in the next year, especially if Gary gets offered another store. This probably sounds greedy, but I told him I don't want to move again unless it's an enormous raise!

 Maggie posing like big sis.

Earlier this month Gary bought me my belated Christmas present, which was a Bob Ross painting set and some canvas boards! I didn't take any pictures of the ones I've done, but I took a picture of the one Willow did with me! Was fun learning, and for an 8 year old it's pretty good! Still not dry though....10 days later...

Willow's first oil painting

And I've done two more besides that. AND I want to do more, but we have no more space to dry pictures! And the paint is expensive too, so if Willow's want to do any more with me, it's going to take an investment. I am really enjoying it, but someday I will learn not to start hobbies that I can only do during nap time or after bed...right?

We love you :) I have a bazillion more photos I could share, maybe a Yahoo messenger day is in order?
